Sacha Inchi Oil - One of the newest 'super food' oils of the skincare world. Exceptionally high in Omega 3, 6 and 9, as well as antioxidant vitamins E and A. It's average essential fatty acid complex is around 93%, and about 36% of that is linoleic acid... compare that to coconut oil at 10%, and avocado at 1-2%, and you can start to understand just how super this oil really is! The other reason we're so excited about this oil, is the unique make up of it's essential fatty acid matrix. Most oils have more omega 6 than omega 3. Take for instance safflower oil; it has on average 80% linoleic (omega 6) acid, which is around 530x the amount of omega 3 in that oil. Evening primrose, again quite high in omega 6 at 73%, is 912x the amount it carries of omega 3. Sacha Inchi is so incredibly unique in that it has roughly 48% omega 3, and only 36% omega 6, making this a truly exceptional oil. It is a clear, light yellow liquid that absorbs fast without leaving an oily residue. It has a mild nutty aroma, consistant with many nut oils, which is indicative of purity, and not rancidity, as some may believe. Abyssinian Oil - The beauty and skincare world's best kept secret! Abyssinian oil is obtained by cold pressing the seeds of the Abyssinian Lily, a flower from the mustard family. It carries unique properties and a molecular structure not found in any other natural oils. Abyssinian oil contains an abundance of fatty acids, including both Linoleic and Linolenic Acids. Linoleic Acid, an Omega 6 fatty acid, is amazing for skin and hair regeneration, while Linolenic Acid, an Omega 3, is anti-inflammatory, skin softening and conditioning. Black Cumin Seed Oil - A powerhouse oil packed with flavinoids, amino acids, essential fatty acids and vitamins. Helps to remove oil from oily skin and clogged pores. Helps to nourish the skin while providing long lasting, moisturizing properties. It reduces the appearance of age spots. Finally, it lubricates the skin, while promoting a supple, soft and smooth complexion.
Squalane (Olive) - Naturally extracted from olives, this wonderful ingredient is the animal friendly alternative to shark squalene. Squalane is not as abundant through it's plant derivative as it is when sourced in shark liver, however this is not a practice that we at Sohma naturals can consciously or humanely support. Squalane is naturally produced by the human body through the skin sebum, as a precursor to cholesterol. Squalane levels peak in our 20's, then begin to decline very rapidly. Olive squalane is one of the fastest absorbing oils, at 2mm/ second. That is exceptionally fast! After absorption, it quickly goes to work enforcing the skin's moisture barrier, reducing the appearance of age spots, and utlizing it's antioxidants in protective mechanisms.
